Ol' John Lee sure knows how to look menacing when he wants to, and sure enough, he knows how to keep an audience in the palms of his hands.

Get the point?
The man has a magnificent voice.

Vala Cupp toured with John Lee Hooker for many years, usually opening his set with a couple of tunes, then maybe doing a duet with John Lee on "Crawling King Snake." Write to her at valasing@hotmail.com for a copy of her album "One Thing On My Mind," which has a great recording of that duet. She is one of the greatest of blues singers extant.

An excellent blues harpist, James Harman, opened for John Lee. Last we heard, Harman was based in Southern California.

Vala and John Lee chill before the show.
